About this deal

This is billed as an in-shower product, with the instructions telling you to shampoo your hair as normal, then towel dry, comb this through it, and wait for around 5 minutes, to let it soak in. I did wait for around five minutes before rinsing it out: they say you can also leave it for up to 30 minutes, for a more intense treatment – I haven’t tried that yet, but probably will at some point, so I’ll try to remember to report back when I do! A colour depositing shampoo, conditioner or hair mask contains the pigment of colour that you'd most like your hair to be and offers a quicker, easier way to refresh your hair colour than using permanent dye. Yes, you have basic brown options, but there’s also a large variety of on-trend hues (think teal and magenta).

For the past couple of years, I’ve been regularly singing the praises of Superdrug’s Colour Effects wash-in conditioning colour. Definitely recommend this for anyone with naturally kind of red or very red hair that wants to boost the copper tones in their hair. Butters and oils (found in the Overtone Coloring Conditioner and the Maria Nila Colour Refresh) will help hydrate the hair, keeping it soft and shiny, and making the color look even better. Between the swathes of red brown hair color, hints of metallic shine catch the light as colour reaches the tips.I contacted Superdrug to see if this product was safe to use if you used box dyes with peroxide and ammonia but they said to ask the hair stylist. During one of the washes, it tinted my blonde lengths a creamy copper shade, which proves it does work depending on your hair colour. Last year, I decided I was ready for something drastic so I bit the bullet and asked my hairdresser to take my hair from a brown-toned red to something akin to Vivienne Westwood's shade of copper. In this respect, I’d say it’s much more like the old John Frieda Colour Glaze (which was also discontinued in red, much to my disappointment) than Colour Effects, and this is a very good thing indeed. And this is coming from a woman who has giant bottles of a certain high end brand that starts with an O and ends with an E in my shower.

According to our Diversity Pledge, 15% of products in our newly-published market roundups will feature Black-owned and/or Black-founded brands. It may be worth checking out Clairol’s Colour Booster in Ruby – this is available in Superdrug and is currently on sale.I dyed my hair a nice light ginger recently (it was already partially bleached), but the demi permanent dye faded so fast. Now, my hair is naturally red, so I knew the red colour would be the best match for it: the problem I have, though, is that I have quite a bit of frizzy baby hair around the hairline, and this hair is blonde. Finally, 7/74 and 7/43 were applied in alternating ribbons through mid-lengths and ends, lending lasting radiance.

Like the Wella mask, this is available in a variety of shades, including pink, blue and varying shades of blonde and brunette. The formula will remain the same (yay) and that it is currently going out on a roll-in, roll-out basis, BUT they said there will be less shades available – but they can’t say which ones yet. colour conditioners will reduce hair ph after colour/bleach, reduce swelling of the hair and be far more comfortable on sensitive scalps than an oxidative toner. There are 17 shades to choose from, ranging from more standard options to fun tones like pink and violet if you want to temporarily change up your look. The eight shades of this color-depositing conditioner really do offer a little something for everyone, ranging from a light beige to cool brown (and everything in between).
