The Child Stage (also known as the Toddler Stage) is the third stage of the Tamagotchi life cycle. The child stage can last from 24 to 72 hours, depending on the release. What child can be achieved is often directly associated either with what baby is born or what two Adult characters married to create it. The child stage where the user's care and resulting consequences become more apparent, especially when it evolves further into the Teenager stage.

For a My Tama, this stage is when all of the genetics it inherited from its parents take full effect. Kikitchi tries to stand up to a gang stopping Tamagotchis from using a skate park in " Skateboarding Kikitchi's Extreme Training!". After spending time practicing by himself and listening to Kuromametchi's advice, Kikitchi challenges the gang to a skate off with the condition that they open up access to the park if he wins. Kikitchi successfully outskates the gang and they become friendly to him after he helps their leader up when they fell down. Kikitchi is a raisable adult that appears on the Tamagotchi Uni. He can be obtained from Curltchi with 0-1 care mistakes, or with 2-5 care mistakes and getting a perfect score over 20 times at the arcade. His hunger decreases by one every 90 minutes while his happiness decreases every 20 minutes. He goes to sleep at 10 PM. This stage features exclusively on the Tamagotchi Connection Version 5 and Tamagotchi Connection Version 5 Celebrity. On the Tamagotchi m!x and Tamagotchi On, parent characters appear in the family photo when marrying a pure Tamagotchi.

The Teenager Stage (also known as the Teen Stage) is the fourth stage of the Tamagotchi life cycle. The Teenager stage can last from 24 to 72 hours depending on the release, and all care done at this stage directly dictates which Adult character is achieved. Teenager characters tend to be more physically developed than child characters, usually having both arms and legs. After a chase through Celebria, Hapihapitchi uses her happiness power on him, but it doesn't work. Kikitchi becomes angry and snaps at Hapihapitchi, saying that she can't force people to be happy and that her power is nonsense. Later at night, Kikitchi remembers an early childhood memory. On the day before a big festival, Kikitchi heard a tree saying that it would rain the next day. When he tells the nearby children of this, they gang up on him and call him a liar as they didn't hear the tree's voice and don't want the festival to be canceled.
